Legends about Agroha and Agarsena are found among the Agarwals.  Maharaja Agarsena was a Suryavanshi Kshatriya king, born during the last stages of Dwapar Yuga in the Mahabharat epic era.  He was the eldest son of the King Ballabh of Pratap Nagar.  Following are the seventeen and a half gotras of Agarwals: Garg, Bansal, Bindal, Bhandal, Dharan, Airan, Goyal, Goyan-1/2 gotra), Jindal, Kansal, Kuchhal, Madhukul, Mangal, Mittal, Nangal, Singhal, Tayal and Tingle.
King Agarsen traveled all over India with his queen to select a place for a new kingdom. At one point during his travels, he found a few tiger cubs and wolfs cubs playing together. To King Agarsena and Queen Madhavi, this was an auspicious indication that the area was land of the brave and they decided to found their new kingdom at that location known as Agroha in Haryana, India. "Agroha", the capital of his regime is today regarded as a holy place by all Agarwals family.
